✅✅ What I LOVED: The Space of this unique spa is very large and roomy. This was my first float tank experience, which can also be referred to as “Sensory deprivation” and trust me, in being in a city that is always on, any silent room is like finding a pink starburst.

As I was reading reviews of float tank spas online, I was noticing one common complaint. Rooms, and float chambers in those other spa’s, were not in fact soundproof and you could hear traffic, or other 3rd party noises during your float experience. Rest assured, the rooms and float tanks at Chill Space NYC are not only completely silent, but they are located on a totally separate floor than the rest of the treatment rooms where other services are performed!

Let’s talk about the rooms themselves, shall we? The float rooms are spacious, and very well utilized, in each room there is a shower, with a rainfall type showerhead descending from the ceiling like Mariah Carey during a Christmas special. Most importantly, the rooms are clean. You are instructed to shower, with the provided bodywash, and shampoo beforehand, then you pop in earplugs which are also provided, and then it’s time to dim the lights, and enter the float tank. You are also provided a floatie for your head which I am almost sure is reused, but that didn’t bother me too much. Salt kills everything… right?

The tank itself is large, and the water is warm which is automatically relaxing. You have the option to turn all of the surrounding lights off or keep them on. I turned them off, and the only thing I left on was the light in the water. You can turn that off also, but for me that would have been too dark, and I would have felt like Rose floating on the door in the Atlantic. During the first couple of minutes it took some getting used to, as a New Yorker we generally are not trusting of letting our body relax and letting go of tension. But as I started letting go of my legs, worked my way up through my torso, upper back, and neck, and trusting the water to keep me afloat. It became very enjoyable.

As I laid there in complete silence it gave me a chance to shut off my mind, and let go of my body completely which was nice. I do think visuals such as twinkling or dimming stars on the ceiling of the tank would amplify the experience of relaxation and meditation so much more (Think interior roof of a Rolls Royce.) I probably just gave someone a million-dollar idea, you’re welcome.

When your hour is up, the water jets in the tank come on to let you know your time has come to an end. You have the room itself for an additional 30mins to take your time and shower again, and trust me you will need to, your body becomes one with the salt.

After you shower and put on your robe, head up the stairs into the changing room. And just like that, it’s all over.

The check-out process was speedy, and there is a bunch of literature on other services, and packages that are offered at Chill Space NYC to look through, which is both engaging and exciting!

🥴🥴 Nobody is perfect: Booking responsiveness time via email took a couple of days from start to finish. I actually had to follow up, to see if my appointment was confirmed.

⚠️⚠️ Overall: This was a great experience for relaxing, and a clean environment which is always appreciated in NYC. I would have liked to have seen some type of LED light experience in the float room for a darker combination relaxation and sensory experience!
